Accessibility

What we aim for

This site is built to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 at level AA. In practice that means:

• Every control can be reached and used with a keyboard alone, including the sliders and toggles.
• Results that update as you change an input are announced to screen readers.
• Text meets contrast requirements, and no meaning is carried by colour alone.
• Touch targets are at least 44 pixels.
• Animation is reduced where your device asks for it.
• Pages work without JavaScript, apart from the calculators and the quote form themselves.

Why it matters here in particular

A good deal of what this site covers — heating, insulation, grants, stairlifts — is read by people arranging work on behalf of older or disabled relatives, or for themselves. A cost page that cannot be read with a screen reader or operated without a mouse fails exactly the people most likely to need it.

Known limitations

The quote form and the tradespeople listings are supplied by LeadsDoWork and rendered by their own code. We do not control their markup, and we cannot guarantee it meets the same standard as the rest of the site. If you have difficulty with either, tell us and we will raise it with them.
